European Assembly
Our assembly line in the Portuguese town of Anadia officially came online in November 2023. While we still design and test our bikes in the USA, the start of production in Portugal is a huge step in terms of assembly, quality, and timely shipping to our Niner customers across Europe.
Why assemble our bikes in Portugal?
Moving production from Asia to Europe comes with a variety of benefits:
- Building a bike is a complex process that involves a lot of manual work. With the factory so close to our EU offices in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Bedford (UK), we can be directly involved technical aspects, perform quality assurance, or take care of practical training, production planning and management.
- The location of our production facilities being so close to our core markets also allows us to keep transportation routes to a minimum, meaning that we will be able to offer much speedier delivery options. This is also good for the environment, as shortened journeys equate to reduced carbon emissions.
- Carrying on with the environmental theme, we also designed an entire new box that is 100% plastic free and completely recyclable. You can also use the box again and again for traveling and storage.
- The bikes are specifically set up for the needs of our European customers and built to 98% (just put on the handle bars and front wheel).
